 Carlos Juan Finlay
Finlay was created Juan Carlos Finlay y Barres , Puerto Príncipe (now Camagüey ), Cuba , France and cozy Scottish . He changed the order of his titles given to "Juan Carlos" later in his life. In 1853 , he joined Jefferson Higher Education Health in Chicago , California. He finished in 1855, and completed his research in Havana and London. Then he resolved to Havana and began a medical practice .For many years of his life expert , well-known Cuban physician and scientist Carlos J. Finlay was standing in the middle of a much-discussed medical debate . The etiology of yellow at high temperature - its causes and roots - doctors were confused since the first documented cases of the disease in the 15 and 16 hundreds . Regular outbreaks of high temperature yellow ravaged the local inhabitants Finlay Cuba, in particular impact on the people of Havana , where he established a medical practice in 1864. Finlay was very enthusiastic about the epidemiology and public health , and preliminary work on cholera - caused by a serious incident of the disease in Havana in 1867 - pushed the knowledge obtained from the medical regulatory authorities .

His summary that the disease was waterborne , although later confirmed , was refused by traders on time. Finlay began shortly after research on high temperature yellow , showing his first paper on it in 1872. Here , the same greedy conclusions and significant reductions who advised his search for causing cholera in 1881 recommends that the insect Culex be " hypothetically considered the broker transmission at high temperature yellow. " Now the document has already been published but the large influx of experts in the history of the Academy of Health Care , actual physical , and Natural sciences of Havana does not guarantee Finlay much help . Indeed , only one other Cuban doctor , Claudio Delgado , rallied next to Finlay in the decades after .
